Nickel Alloy 22 Hastelloy C-22 Inconel 22
Alloy 22, which is also sold under the brand names Hastelloy C-22, and Inconel 22, is a fully austenitic nickel-based super-alloy. Like many super-alloys, Alloy 22 offers resistance against corrosion, pitting, crevice corrosion, intergranular attacks, and stress corrosion cracking.
It gives users high ductility, which aids in cold forming and is resistant to aqueous corrosion at elevated temperatures.
Wide varieties of industries rely on Alloy 22 for a number of different applications, including:
Chemical processing
Pulp and paper processing
Oil and gas
Pesticide production
Pollution control
Sour gas services
Waste incinerators
Alloy 22 is even utilized in nuclear fuel reprocessing, flue gas desulfurization, and many seawater applications.
In order to be called Alloy 22, an alloy must be composed of a balanced level of Nickel as well as:
Cr 20-22.5%
Mo 12.5-14.5
Co 2.5% Max
W 2.5-3.5%
Fe 2-6%
Alloy 22 comes in a flat bar, forging stock, hexagon, plate, round bar, sheet, strip, and wire. These forms of Alloy 22 meet or exceed a number of different critical industry standards from the ASTM, ASME, ISO, and DIN families. To form Alloy 22, you can use standard processes, however, optimum forging occurs between 1750-2050 °F and annealing between 2020-2150 °F. Alloy 22 can be gas tungsten-arc, shield metal-arc, and gas metal arc welded. Alloy 22 is a cost-effective super-alloy and an excellent choice for a variety of applications that require superior performance.
If you are in the market for Nickel Alloy 22, Hastelloy C-22, or Inconel 22, Continental Steel can source the material needed. We stock and sell all three in a wide variety of sizes and forms.
